How To Use Harris Bed Bug Killer

If bed bugs are causing you trouble, you’ve come to the right place. Harris Bed Bug Killer is both easy to use and extremely effective. Harris Bed Bug Killer is a water-based formula that is odorless and non-staining. For best results, use it in combination with other Harris bed bug products like our aerosol egg kill for mattresses, box springs, and carpets and our diatomaceous earth powder for use behind switches and outlets.

Preparation

In preparation for killing bed bugs, it is best to declutter the affected area first. In the process, be careful not to contaminate other areas of the home. Wash all bedding, furniture covers, and other textiles in hot water, and then use the highest heat setting to dry them. This will kill any bed bugs in your linens. Next, thoroughly vacuum the carpet, mattress, and box spring. Empty the vacuum bag in an outside garbage can. You are now ready to apply the bed bug killer.

Application

Harris Bed Bug Killer is EPA registered and approved for indoor use in bedrooms and kitchens. To apply our bed bug killer, follow these easy steps:
  • Remove the cap and install the trigger sprayer
  • Twist the nozzle to the “on” position
  • Hold the container upright and hold the spray nozzle approximately 12 inches away from the surface you intend to treat. Squeeze the trigger to spray.
  • Lightly spray surfaces as a spot treatment. Do not overspray. The surfaces should be slightly moist, but not soaked.
  • Surfaces to spray include: bed frames, box springs, mattress tufts and seams, headboards, bed rails, around baseboards, upholstered furniture, around doors and windows, under or behind appliances, inside dresser drawers, and under sinks.
  • Do not apply around electrical outlets or switches. UseHarris diatomaceous earth to get inside these hard to reach places.
  • Allow the spray to dry thoroughly for at least 2 hours. Our residual formula will kill bugs after it is dry and continue to kill them for 7-10 days, depending on the surface type. After it is dry, it is safe for pets and children. When the mattresses are completely dry, encase them with a bed bug cover and then re-make the beds.
  • Repeat application every few weeks, as necessary. Bed bug infestations can take a while to get under control, so be patient and persistent.
